Volunteers work to identify particular trees of interest in select locations to educate visitors and enhance their experience and understanding of diverse tree species in both urban and forest environments.

Bill, a resident at The Hermitage, a continuing care retirement community in Richmond, wanted to identify the trees on the property. In October 2014, members of the Pocahontas Chapter worked to identify the trees, place plaques by each tree, and create a book that could be used as a resource for the residents, caretakers, and visitors to understand and appreciate the trees.  We asked Bill why he felt so inspired to do this project.  He responded that he wanted “to encourage the other residents to come outside and enjoy the beautiful trees and the wonderful Hermitage property."
