Volunteer: Pocahontas State Park trail educaton and Maintenance
To volunteer for this project, contact Lori Ando.
Have you ever hiked the trails at Pocahontas State Park and couldn’t resist the urge to move that branch or rock off the trail or in general make the trail a better place?  If so, and even if not, hiking trail maintenance may be for you.  We’re putting together regular hiking trail maintenance outings at Pocahontas State Park for Virginia Master Naturalists.

We will begin this endeavor with a short training session followed by work on the trails on April 15 and take it from there.

More details:
Date:  Sunday, April 15, 2018
Time:  10:00am – 2:00pm
Location:  Pocahontas State Park – Meet at the Visitor Center
Prepare for a fun filled time learning about hiking trails and trail maintenance.  Time will be spent indoors discussing hiking trails, maintenance techniques, tools, and safety followed by time outdoors practicing the skills that were learned.

Wear substantial shoes or boots, long pants, dress for the weather and bring gloves.  Since our time is over lunch, pack a lunch and be sure to bring plenty to drink.

Please register on the VMN Website, or email me at lla043022@gmail.com.  Space is limited.

Hope you’ll join the fun!
